Description
Beyond expectations, the inside of this miniature box is constructed with compartments, each with a drawer decorated in the front with beautifully drawn animals, deer, a dog and hare, various birds and at the center with an Eros, son of the goddess of Love, Aphrodite. The sides with inlays of Adam and Eve, perhaps to remind the user of the perils of involvement with the mischievous Eros. One drawer seems to be a later replacement and there is some loss to inlays, in need of attention but a beautiful and worthy object.
