197: An Important Late Neolithic Bust of a Ram

SKU: 197 Categories: , ,

Description

An important sculpture of the Late Neolithic Era in the Ancient Near East, it dates to the 5th millennium BC and it gives a glimpse of the starkness of vision and ability to abstract that our ancient ancestors possessed. The ram’s horns embody the very essence of the animal’s existence and its magical powers. Here it is presented, reduced to an extreme abstraction that was only achieved and understood in the early 20th century in the works of the Early Cubists and other modern art artists. It is a wonderful work of art to complement and provide depth as a compliment to any collection of Modern Art.
