A simple yet sophisticated shape for a vase of such early antiquity, it dates to the late 2nd millennium BC. Fashioned from red Nile River clay, it represents a common utilitarian object for the ancient Egyptians at the time it was created, but also a wonderful example of the elegance that early pottery exhibits.
