Description
A handmade antique gold finger ring, with a double banded shank and with circular elements on both sides, tapered collar bezel set with a large Roman style agate cameo, and showing in high relief the carved profile of a bearded male sporting a curly hairdo and wearing a laurel wreath on his head.
The work of an Italian (or English) carver, most probably 18th century, Neo-Classical, it presents a richly detailed portrait of a Roman or Greek philosopher in an antique cameo.
It is intact, and in excellent condition, substantial, sturdy and suitable for wearing.
