An Etruscan terracotta head of a young athlete, in the Greek Hellenistic tradition, Late 4th Century BC, beautiful modelling.

The Etruscans were the first Kings of Ancient Rome and they were the first non-Romans who were given the privilege to become Roman Citizens. They were subsequently subsumed by the Romans and it was the Etruscans with their extensive contacts with the Greeks that first introduced their less sophisticated compatriots to the arts and letters of Greece.
