Description
Decorated with a ferocious coiled dragon ready to strike at any moment, this masterpiece of German Early Renaissance art is a pleasure to admire and wonder about the culture that produced it.
Hemispherical in shape it is completely reticulated all around its convex surface with similar scrolling convoluted organic designs. The apex of the sphere is gold gilt and the piece is absolutely devoid of any signs of rust which is a testament to the German cut steel metallurgist masters of the early 16th century.
It was affixed to the handle-end of a light sword or dagger.
Size: ¾ inches H x 1 ¼ in. dia.
