Description
A ladies’ Cosmetic Box in silver, decorated all around and at the top with romantic scenes inspired by ancient Greek and Roman mythology. At the top it shows a battle of Greeks in combat with barbarians while on the side panels it shows a running narrative of Amorini or Putti, children of the goddess of Love, Aphrodite.
Good tabletop decoration, early to mid-19th century, neoclassical design.
