Description
Fine finger ring in a handmade silver setting, with a tapered split type shank and large oval rimmed bezel set with a high relief carved agate cameo, depicting the profile of a man’s head with a curly hairdo reminiscent of early Roman portraits. The man portrayed appears to have been an orator or politician and probably someone well known, an Early Republican personage of Rome, a well-known public historic personage, possibly Cicero. Nicely detailed.
1st half of the 20th century.
It is intact, and in excellent condition. Sturdy and suitable for wearing.
